The J.Rose Collection

Nine valuable botanicals. An author's distillate, written for those who are capable of recognizing the hand that created it. The nose is warm and decisive: the juniper in the foreground, then the bergamot and the mandarin peel lighten it in a citrus breath that softens its momentum and makes it silky. In his mouth he keeps his word. The citrus fruit opens, the prickly pear flowers bounce from the nose to the palate leaving a fruity trail, and on the bottom the oak bark places the wood, toasted notes of hazelnut and walnut that finish long and warm.

Artwork title: Molly · El Gaucho

Molly, muse of the epic El Gaucho, born from the pen of Hugo Pratt and the hand of Milo Manara. In this nude seen from behind, a moment of intimate abandon on the bed: a dreamy pose that guards, beneath its grace, the strength of a woman suspended between the desire for freedom and an adverse fate, in early nineteenth-century Argentina.

Artwork title: Regina · Homage to Mucha

In this artwork Milo Manara pays homage to Alphonse Mucha, one of the fathers of Art Nouveau, in the series he dedicates to the painters he loves most. A refined union between the aesthetics of vintage posters and the line of modern comic art: Mucha’s floral decorations and sinuous curves merge with the carnal beauty of Manara’s women, in a timeless bridge between classical art, eros and design.
The name is no accident. Like Mucha’s figures crowned with flowers, wrapped in arabesques, eternal as sacred icons, Regina reigns over her own beauty: a sovereignty made of grace and strength combined.

Artwork title: Miele · The Scent of the Invisible

Miele is perhaps the most iconic character born from Manara’s pencil, the very archetype of his idea of beauty. This illustration revives the magic of Il Profumo dell’Invisibile (The Scent of the Invisible), an erotic masterpiece that evokes the myth of H.G. Wells’ invisible man: an ointment makes people invisible, and with invisibility the most forbidden desire emerges.
All the tension lives in the unknown, in what is sensed but not seen. Miele is the perfect muse of this play of glances and impalpable presences: luminous, free, never truly graspable.

Artwork title: Miele · Icon of Beauty

Here Miele returns in another guise: no longer the invisible presence of the Scent, but the pop icon par excellence. Manara gives her the features of a young Kim Basinger, consecrating her as an absolute symbol of beauty and the image of an entire decade.
The precision of his line captures a mischievous innocence, a tribute to the Eighties and their cinematic charm. She is the dream woman of generations of readers: desired before ever being known.

Artwork title: Claudia · The Game

Claudia is the protagonist of Il Gioco (The Game), a worldwide erotic cult that appeared in Playmen in the early Eighties: the initiatory journey of a woman who, freed from every convention, discovers herself. A force so powerful it went beyond the page, inspired cinema, and redefined the canons of beauty.

Artwork title: Claudia · The Queen of Desire

A second interpretation of Claudia. In the masterpiece Il Gioco she professes to be icy, indifferent to pleasure, until a mysterious device, capable of igniting her senses, transforms her into the undisputed queen of desire.
The artwork captures this paradox: composed elegance yielding to the disruptive force of instinct. It is the boundary between self-control and abandon, one of Manara’s most beloved territories.
Not a different woman, but the same one beginning to truly know herself. Because some muses do not merely travel the world: they travel within themselves, and rediscover who they are.

Artwork title: Madama Butterfly · The Line at La Scala

A tribute to Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece, created for the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Manara reinterprets the fragility and nobility of Cio-Cio-San, weaving the drama of opera into the sensuality of contemporary illustration. Comic art enters the temple of great music: like every J.Rose artwork, a language born popular becomes art to be treasured.

Artwork title: The Venus · Homage to Botticelli

Milo Manara reinterprets one of the absolute symbols of the Renaissance: Sandro Botticelli’s Venus. A cultured, passionate homage where his unmistakable line meets the ethereal elegance of the Florentine genius.
Venus reveals herself in all her iconic grace, crossed by a modern, sensual vibration that turns the classical deity into a living muse. Born from the sea foam, eternal for five centuries: beauty that time does not consume, but preserves.

Artwork title: Flamenco

Francesco Palma captures the burning soul of Andalusia in a vibrant artwork, dominated by a palette of warm, enveloping colours. A flamenco dancer, proud and overwhelming, occupies the heart of the scene, surrounded by an explosion of fiery red and earthy tones that evoke a visceral passion. In the background, the figures of the musicians add depth and rhythm to the composition.
Because flamenco is born this way: from pain that becomes dance, from toil that becomes fire. An ancient art in which beauty is never mere grace, but strength in motion.
